Shopping Date Night

This is a date that can be done with the kids if you can’t or don’t want to leave them at home. You give each child a small amount of money, it can be anything between one to six dollars. Each person gets this amount and is instructed to find the best thing to buy for that amount of money. If you have younger children they may need to pair of with older children or with you and your spouse. The person that finds the best thing for that price wins the game and everyone gets to keep the thing they purchased. It’s a great way to get some shopping done without the children getting bored and also a great family game.
You could even make this a monthly tradition and select different amounts of money for each time. Write down the amounts you are willing to spend on pieces of paper and place them in a jar. Have a child draw the amount and then use that amount for your shopping game. You could also have a child select the store to play the game at out of a list of ones you have made. This help the kids stay involved and makes the game slightly different each time.

Relationship Reconnection: This can help you get closer as a family while still getting a necessary task done. Shopping can be hard because the kids get bored and act up because of it. This activity turns shopping into a game that everyone can play and will help build stronger connections between family members.
